Avicenna’s Šifāʾ from Safavid Iran to the Mughal Empire: On Ms. Rampur Raza Library 3476

 The paper aims at providing a comprehensive description of the manuscript Rampur, Rampur Raza Library 3476 (ḥikma 112), which contains three four main parts Avicenna’s philosophical magnum opus, Kitāb al-Šifāʾ (the Book Cure or: Healing). This documents important developments in history Arabic-Islamic philosophy. First, it attests precise intellectual genealogy within influential Daštakī family from Shiraz, several exponents can be identified as successive owners this turn ninth/fifteenth and tenth/sixteenth centuries, among whom one should mention Ṣadr al-Dīn Moḥammad Šīrāzī (d. 903/1498), founder so-called “Šīrāzī school” philosophy; Ġeyās̱ Manṣūr 948/1542), son preceding author first extant commentary on Ilāhiyyāt (Science Divine Things, or Metaphysics) Šifāʾ Arabic presently known; Fatḥollāh 997/1589), student possibly also relative Šīrāzī, advocates promoters rationalism India. Second, copied 718/1318, hand highlights crucial phase transmission Šifāʾ, pivotal juncture between most ancient dissemination work (fifth to seventh/eleventh thirteenth centuries) later period its production (ninth fourteenth/fifteenth twentieth centuries).
